There are 47 tribes in the state of Oklahoma, 37 of which are federally recognized. The Oakerhater Episcopal Center in Watonga, Oklahoma is the center of Native American Ministries within diocese. Named for David Pendleton Oakerhater, the center is located on twelve-acres and is also home to Whirlwind Mission of the Holy Family, a Cheyenne and Arapaho mission.
Indian Ministries
Latino ministries is a growing area in our diocese! We have congregations in both the Oklahoma City and the Tulsa areas with strong, vibrant Latino ministry programs and worship services. We also have thriving multi-cultural congregations in the Oklahoma City area!
